  1. How are things going? Surly the Seattle NLRB has brought the workers some justice by now, havent they?

  2. Just an update for everyone, ultimately due to everyones efforts the employees at CRJ Construction were able to bargain a contract that provided for living wages, family medical insurance, and retirement security. Most important to the employees was the implementation of a grievance procedure so that issues between the employees and management can be effectively addressed.Another major issue for the employees was training. The employees understood that by increasing their knowladge of the industry they would increase their productivity and marketable skills in the event they ever decided to work for another company.

Those employees that were terminated were reinstated as part of the contract negotiations.

One of the most interesting aspects of this dispute was the fact that some of the employees that left CRJ due to the hostile work environment promulgated by management went to other companies and have worked to organize the employees at the new company. One of these companies will have a NLRB supervised election on 2-8-2013.

None of this would have come to reality without all of the help from everyone out there. Had the employees depended solely on the NLRB and Federal Mediation nothing would have been resolved. It became extremely clear that the Agents at the National Labor Relations Board were far more interested in making this issue disappear than to enforce current labor law.

So thanks to all that helped the employees at CRJ Construction thank you.

  3. This is very sad to me... for the company, not the workers. Question: Washington State is a Right To Work State... if the company was so bad to work for, why did the employees not find work elsewhere? As I understand it, CRJ Construction is now a Signatory Union Company which appears to be the result of nothing less than a hostile take-over from a Socialist Union organization. Most people agree that the USA is the best country in the world... paramount to this is the fact that we are a Capitalist Society; it is the competitive nature of such a society that promotes prosperity on nothing more than MERIT. I do not know the owner of this company personally but I am willing to bet that he is not the evil person he is being made out to be. Our government provides sufficient laws dictating fairness in the workplace to maintain health and safety... the Unions don't provide anything to anyone other than a crippled employer who has lost their competitive advantage in the private bid/work arena. The Union Officials and the workers who pressed for organized labor at CRJ Construction should be ashamed of themselves.
